A special screening of Happy New Year was arranged for the cast and crew associated with the film on Sunday evening. Producer/Actor Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah were expected to see it. Srk , however, admitted on Twitter that he couldn’t watch the film because of the last minute preparations and promotions around the film.
He first tweeted, “Today v c our labour of love, HNY. Never talk about the men & women who have made this possible, I owe u all. Thanx.” After the movie, he again took to the social networking website and added, Didnt get to see HNY but saw the smiling faces of all who saw it. I pray to Allah that it delivers happiness to the viewers. To Delhi now!
He mentioned that he was elated to see others enjoying what they saw of the film. No brownie points for guessing who was Shah Rukh referring to.
Amitabh Bachchan was also present at the movies last night. He was a special guest at the screening, and apparently attended it purely in the capacity of being Abhisheks father and SRKs family friend.
He expressed his views on Twitter too: Back from @HNY ... it is HHUUUUUGGEEEEEE !!!What mounting for @HNY .. the songs, the story, the performances .. A RIOT !!!
